About us

Neighbors serving neighbors — youth development on Houston's Southside.

Who we are

Rooted in the neighborhood we serve.

Southside Youth Programs (SYP) is a community-based organization serving young people on the Southside of Houston, Texas. We provide a safe, encouraging space where students can do their homework, explore new skills, and build relationships with caring adults.

Our programs range from daily after-school care to a medical careers track developed with Baylor College of Medicine.

Want to get involved? We'd love to talk.

Our mission

To enrich the lives of Southside Houston youth through safe after-school programming, hands-on learning, and partnerships that open doors.

What makes us different

01

Community roots

We're a neighborhood organization, not a franchise. Families know us by name — starting with Lynn at the front desk.

02

Real partnerships

Baylor College of Medicine physicians and Nameless Sound teaching artists work directly with our students.

03

Hands-on learning

Keyboard labs, culinary workshops, interactive medical labs — students learn by doing, not just watching.
